The Design of the Record

Every colour, typeface and component of oculussupra.org, in both themes.

Colour

Ink and grey carry everything. Red is only for what the Observer flags. Blue is only for the protocol's machinery: grade chips, tags and forecast bands. Green is only for a forecast that scored better than chance. The swatches below are drawn from the stylesheet's own variables, so they change with the theme.

Type

Three faces, each with one job: Inter for titles and labels, Source Serif 4 for reading, IBM Plex Mono for the instrument's voice.

Field Report No. 0 · 1 January 2027 · 3,000 words · 14 min

Prose · body, headings, curatorial note

Specimen curatorial note. It names the curator and the collaborating model, states the rule of facts and fiction, and declares any conflict of interest.

A section heading

Specimen body text. Short declarative sentences, varied in length. One idea per sentence where possible. A source is cited in APA 7 at the end of the sentence that relies on it (Author, 2026).

A subheading

Marks and chips

Small marks carry the protocol: the transition tag, the Admiralty grade on every fact, the chain of custody on every reference, and the outcome of every forecast.

Blocks in the text

Facts about the present, fiction about the future. Every block that is not a plain fact is labelled as what it is.

Ruling: Drift. A specimen ruling, one line, after the two readings.

What follows is speculation, and labeled as such. A specimen speculation passage. Every forward-looking statement in a long form sits in a block like this one.

Fiction · 31 March 2027. A specimen fiction, the only place in a Signal where the future is narrated.

A specimen conflict-of-interest note, declared by the curator at the point where it arises.

Correction · 2027-01-15. A specimen correction note: what changed and why. A correction creates a new archived version.

This space is reserved for the outcome.
On the resolution date two independent adjudicators apply the test.

Forecast

Every forecast sits on the ICD 203 likelihood scale. Its band is marked in protocol blue and its recorded probability with a marker.

Strata · Signals

A Signal is read in strata. Every sentence belongs to one, and the lens dims the others.

FactGraded · cited · archived

A specimen fact with its grade B2 (Author, 2026).

InferenceSame evidence, read twice

One falsifiable claim, a resolution date and a resolution test.

Long forms · Chronicles

A Chronicle carries a span bar of the years it covers. The last year, the present, is flagged. On wide screens each year is stamped in the margin beside its paragraph.

Mounted records

Plates, exhibits and evidence cards are records. They sit on their own light paper in both themes and are never recoloured. These are published records, shown here as they appear in their posts.

No records are public yet. They appear here once their posts are published.
